End of 2019/20 season review

The 2019/20 season is certainly an unprecedented one with the Covid-19 pandemic causing big disruptions to the whole world, let alone our fantasy premier league realm.

Firstly, an apology for the near zero updates to the blog, instagram and twitter accounts. The admin team behind all these is basically just me and I have not been able to find time for them this season. The same can be said for my fantasy league team. I have updated the blog links and some of you might have already seen the instagram posts.

There are likely to be some changes to the social media and content side moving forward and I will update nearer to the new season. Even if there is some reduction in the social media side, we are actually looking into bringing more new elements/competitions into the True Dedication format. We will announce the details when the 2020/21 FPL season starts.

Now, a big congratulation to our 2019/20 True Dedication Fantasy League Champion, Bertrand Wan again! He finished with an excellent overall rank of 511. Below are some key stats from our newly crowned champion:

  • Overall points = 2440
  • Overall rank = 511
  • Singapore rank = 13
  • Man United fan
  • Total transfers = 53
  • Squad Value = £105.7 (£0.6 in the bank)
  • This is his best season having finished in 74279th, 37635th and 177431st since 2016/17

Moving on to the league as a whole, for the winning top 12 managers, the gap between our champion and 12th manager is a big 169 pts. In fact, Bertrand won by a big margin with a 51 pts over his nearest rival, Soon Hwee Ong. Lets look at some interesting figures from the league:

  • Least season transfers made = 2 (I think he gave up from the beginning) and most season transfers made = 79
  • The richest team is Jessen Seo’s Lousy Ligaments with a total value of £107.4
  • Highest GW Bench Points = 33 pts (Ron Lee, GW21)
  • Lowest GW Bench Points = -2 pts (Charles Xavier, GW 34+)
  • Highest GW Points (including and excluding hits) = 129 (Soon Hwee Ong)
  • Lowest GW Points (before hits) = 12 (JX Toh Gim Sin, GW28, GW36)
  • Lowest GW Points (after hits) = -11 (Gabriel Png, GW2)
  • Most GW Transfer Cost = -52 pts (Gabriel Png, GW2)
Highest GW Transfer Cost and Lowest GW points (after hits)

I hope everyone had a great time playing in the league this season. Remember there are no forever winners or losers and everyone will start from the same point. We look forward to seeing most of you back in a few weeks’ time for another season of fun. See you then!

2019/20 Winners

With the ending of the 2019/20 season, Liverpool winning their first ever premier league title and first top division title in 30 years, it is time to officially announce our winners for this season. Congratulations to all winners! For those who did not win anything, we certainly hope you had fun and the new season is coming soon so you get a fresh chance.

Bertrand Wan is our newly crowned champion and very much deserving too! Look out for the season review post for some interesting reading for the league results.
